Another Call & Flowers

I just hung up the phone with Nate! He is out in the desert. WAY OUT! Today's temperature was 132degrees!! Yes, that's no typo - 132 degrees! They have a water shortage and the temperature inside the house is 90degrees during the day. He was tired and exhausted but sounded like he was in good spirits!

Today I got some flowers! I'd say from Nate but he claims he didn't send them. They were from Taz and Bob, hehe! Here are some pictures of the two beautiful vases full of roses and tulips just after I got them out of the boxes.
Here's a picture of the flowers that "Taz" sent me. I think that is his 'I miss my daddy face!'Here, he is inspecting the roses from Bob.

Pictures from Africa

I chatted with Nate today on gmail's chat function. I was actually on my (late) lunch at work this afternoon when he sent me a text message from his email. I got to chat with him for about 30minutes and he sent me a few pictures. I thought I would share them so you can see what it is like where he is now. Just a note, this is not where he will be in a few days and I probably won't have to the chance to talk/chat with him while out on their mission. For now, enjoy a few pictures of Nate in Africa...

Phone Call

Today was my lucky day!!! I heard from Nate! He is in Africa and doing alright. He (and the other guys he is with) have had their luggage "lost" so they are wearing what they left Jacksonville in back on Sunday. Ugh, yucky huh? But, I guess that is what all the training is for! YAY for a good day!!

Gone

Nate is currently in the air on leg 2 of 4 on his way to Africa. :( I am really sad here but it is amazing how God works. Nate and I texted back and forth right up until he had to turn his phone off on the runway for takeoff. Not more than 1 minute later, my house phone rang. It was my mom! Wow, what a comfort at such a sad time! Thank you God!

Deployment

Ok guys, I know we've fallen behind a bit on here but here comes the reason...Nate being deployed! He is leaving on Sunday for Africa. I won't post many details but if you want to know more, give him or I a call (before Sunday if you want to talk to him!) and we will fill you in on what we know. We knew this type of deployment was possibly in his future when he went to this unit back in December of 2006 but we didn't find out for certain until about 3 weeks ago. Thus, not many updates since we've both been trying to get things in order before he leaves - well, really he has been doing the prep work but I've been trying to help out where I can.

Oh, our trip to VA (Williamsburg, Quantico and Roanoke) went well last weekend and I will update with more pictures after he leaves and I have time to spare.
