Picture of the Week (PotW)

Here's this week's POTW! :)

This is our 2007 Marine Corps Birthday Ball picture. The Ball is held in early November and last week, we started getting details about this year's ball. Last year, it was held here in Jacksonville at a local "club." It was held on a Thursday night about two weeks after I started my job at the lab. I was scheduled to work that day and since I was so new, I had to work it. I got home with about 20 minutes to get ready and leave. FUN!! We had an alright time but hopefully this year's will be better! It is being held in Wilmington on a Friday night!

P.S. If you want a paper copy of the above picture, let us know! We have a bunch left!

Early Labor Day

Yup, that's right. EARLY Labor Day. We celebrated early because Stacy had to work Saturday, Sunday and Monday of that holiday weekend. Boo! Here was the sky from our back patio. So, we grilled some flank steak and corn on the cob. YUMMY!!
Check the Dubs in the Kitchen blog for "recipe" of grilled corn on the cob.

Here we are being goofy on the patio watching the grill.
Hope you all had a safe and happy Labor Day - sorry this is SO late!

Picture of the Week (PotW)

I decided to try and share a picture (or set of pictures) each week that you might find entertaining and/or funny. They will likely be random and not really have an interesting back story but we hope you enjoy!

This week's pictures are from last week when I was feeling really bad. We don't let Taz on our new couch but it was storming and I felt bad so I let him crawl up next to me. Apparently we both fell asleep and Nate snapped our picture. He is actually laying half on me!

Crazy Weather

Here's an update for the last week's weather chaos.

As I am typing this post, it is POURING rain outside. I mean, raining REALLY hard. But this is the first of the rain we have had since Sunday morning. Hanna passed through Jacksonville around 6am on Saturday morning. Things were crazy here. Afterwards, there was some talk that Jacksonville wanted to test their emergency response program and, in turn, everyone overreacted. Saturday was a dreary, lazy day as Stacy's work was canceled. Other than a single piece of vinyl, we saw no damages. And the repairmen (from the lightning strike) were here on Wednesday and we are thinking maybe they didn't tack it down enough. Our friends, John and Lori, did have some tree limbs down in their back yard and a storm door that flew open and glass shattered on their back porch.

We are okay! :) Thanks for the prayers.

Oh, thought you might enjoy some pictures from our preparations. Here is our pantry. Stacy's favorite part of the house. If you haven't seen it in person...it's bigger than our laundry room!
The fridge is thanks to Stacy's Wood family raising! On Friday evening, Nate actually had to reorganize the freezer to get those bags of ice to fit.

And the winner is...

We've had four people take our poll in the last few weeks. And all of the votes were in support of a 'Dubs in the Kitchen' blog! YAY!!!

I am so excited to share this with you all! As most of you know, I, Stacy, do most of the cooking so it will likely be posts from me about my ramblings as a "cook" trying to create tasty and healthy meals for Nate and myself. Remember that I cannot tolerate milk or egg products but I do use them for Nate whenever we have them on hand. But if you see something that you aren't sure about, drop me a line and I will clarify.

Here it goes.....Welcome to The Dubs in the Kitchen blog...

Enjoy guys!

Ice Cream Update!

So, we haven't adventured into making another batch of ice cream but we thought in the meantime you might enjoy a few pictures of how Nate ate some of our first batch of ice cream.

Enjoy but don't drool too much!

One sundae in progress...

ANOTHER sundae! The blueberries were hand picked by us at a local blueberry farm! Yum-O!

We are currently giving the ice cream a rest. Not because we don't LOVE it...but we broke the ice cream scoop! Haha!
